What is ABS? ABS is a short-form for Anti-lock braking systems. It helps you steer in emergencies by restoring traction to your tires.
What It Does? it helps prevent wheels from locking up – possibly allowing the driver to steer to safety. Most ABS comes to work when you apply hard on the brakes, especially if the floor is wet and slippery!
All modern cars have ABS brakes as standard. ABS became a legal requirement in all new passenger cars from 2004.
Why would the ABS light come on? Here are the 3 main reasons why
Broken Wheel Speed Sensors (Most common reason)
Malfunctioning ABS Module (Most expensive)
Low Levels in the brake fluid reservoir
In our case, our regular customer who drove a Mercedes A180 pulled up to AUA, complaining the brake, traction and ABS light have come on.
Owner thought this would be something costly and serious as so many check-lights prompted at once. However after our diagnostic scan and inspection, it was just a faulty rear speed/ABS sensor.
A new rear speed sensor was immediately ordered and fixed within the shortest time and it wasn't anything really costly, which allowed the owner to have a peace of mind and got his car back within a hour!
Therefore, do not panic whenever the ABS light comes on! For safety purposes, the ECU would limit the functions and the driving performance of your beloved car (heavy steering , lack of power). We service all types of brakes in all different types of vehicles, from standard anti-lock brakes to high-performance models in sports cars to large systems in heavy-duty vehicles. When your ABS light comes on, we’re a team you can trust to accurately diagnose your problem and get it fixed with high-quality parts and labor backed up by certified technicians!
