BMW 520 drove in today for servicing and drive-train error (check-engine light for most vehicles)
After checking the error with our BMW diagnostic tool, it revealed to be a cylinder misfiring.
An engine misfire is when one or more cylinders doesn't produce power, and there are several possible causes, from a fouled spark plug , ignition coil to injector or ECU (Electronic control unit).
Symptoms Of A Misfire
Rough Idling. Engines that idle in a clunky or rough manner. (most common)
Sluggish Acceleration. Your car might have trouble reaching adequate speeds if your engine is misfiring (most common)
Your “Check Engine” Light Might Illuminate
Engine Sound Changes
Black Exhaust smoke
In this case the problem was caused by faulty spark plug and ignition coil.
*1 spark plug was disposed before photo was taken*
A new original set of spark plugs and ignition coil were replaced and maintenance was carried out with all other checks done.
